On Friday, February 4, a group including Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) members organized by U.S. International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) alumna and Brunei Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa Ash’ari, participated in a courtesy call and discussion with Chargé d’Affaires Emily Fleckner. The socially-distanced event took place at the U.S. Embassy and was part of the “Diplomats for a Day” program organized by the Brunei Youth Council in conjunction with the High Commission of Bangladesh.
The event brought together 19 young, aspiring diplomats to learn more about careers in diplomacy. Chargé d’Affaires Fleckner fielded questions about the roles, responsibilities, and lifestyle of a diplomat, and encouraged the youth to participate in YSEALI and other U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs.
